Yesterday morning, we hosted a small piano recital in our home. Last year, Austin - in cooperation with Allia's piano teacher - issued a challenge to Allia. She could have a year to learn a long, complex piece of music. In exchange for her effort, she would earn the American Girl doll of her choice. She was up for the challenge and has spent the last year learning Sonata in C by Mozart, in 3 movements. I have admired her patience and diligence (and that of her teacher!), as it takes both to work your way through such a long piece without loosing heart. She did a beautiful job playing it for her teacher, her choir director, Godparents, and good friends the R family. Their boys joined her in playing a few of their pieces, so she didn't have to be the only performer. It was a nice time spent with everyone, and Allia is excited to now be able to pick her doll! I had big plans to take her to the AG store in Houston, but she wants a doll that looks like her. So we will have to order it! We may take a trip there anyway...once baby gets a little older...just for fun. So proud of our Allia!
The R boys are so sweet and very good musicians! I was proud of our Godson playing his piece on such short notice (we only asked them if they wanted to play something a couple of days before). :)
