Open Water Meet

Allia had the option this year of participating in an open water swim meet (aka swimming in a lake). She surprised us by jumping at the opportunity. She swam the mile this morning with one of her teammates. They seemed to enjoy it except maybe for the icy cold water!

 

Fun moments

One of the joys of homeschooling is that we have so much more time together at home, though still sometimes not as much as I would like! This morning, after doing some chores and school, Anastasia decided to read a book to Cecilia and ended up with two extra listeners. So sweet!

And some neighbors came over yesterday evening after swim, had dinner with us and played until bedtime. The kids had such a blast playing in the back yard together after dark that we hardly saw any of them! We took the occasion for some ice cream after dinner, and Sebastian had the privilege of finishing off a container. There is just something gratifying about eating ice cream out of the big jug!

Allia is taking an art class this year and is really enjoying it. This is her most recent work.

Pumpkin Patch 2019!

We made it to the pumpkin patch this morning in some beautiful weather. There were a few grumbles when I made everyone change into Aggie shirts and come with us to allergy shots beforehand. But after a picnic of Chicken express and some nice pumpkin picking and photos even the grumpies were smiling and happy. :) They even started racing around the entire patch right before time to go. Cecilia participated happily though she was always bringing up the rear!

 

 

 

 

 

First Gulf Swim Meet

We had our first "real" meet of the season this weekend. Austin officiated Saturday, and Allia, Gloria and Stephen swam (but Stephen only Saturday). Gloria gained 2 new B times, and Stephen gained 3! They all did a great job, including Allia who was coming down with a cold but still maintained most of her times.

Robotics victory!

Mariana's team won First Place in their first robotics competition of the year at the Brazos Valley Fair and Rodeo yesterday. They worked very hard leading up to this competition, and we were so proud of them!

Maroon Vs. White

Our swim team had it's first meet of the season Saturday, which is always a fun intrasquad meet with the team divided in half to compete against each other. This was Anastasia's first swim meet ever! I took the swimmers early for check in and warm ups. Then Austin and the two littler ones met us there for a morning of swim. It was so nice to all be together since we usually have to split up for swim meets.
The kids did a great job swimming, including Anastasia who got a ranked time in her event which was 25 freestyle!

Homecoming

Allia went with some friends to homecoming last night. She had a wonderful time. I can't believe she is so grown up!

 

National Night Out

As if one festival wasn't enough for the week, we had our annual neighborhood National Night Out party last night.
