Geography

Allia really enjoyed working this US puzzle today and did a great job...with a little help.

Mariana's view on the subject: "There are too many states!"

Happy Baptism Day

to me!

We have decided to start celebrating our baptism days since, really they are quite important and celebration-worthy. So my sweet hubby brought us a surprise ice cream treat after lunch today. Then we went to daily mass and ate at a yummy local joint for dinner.

Thanks, family! What a wonderful day!

She pumps!

This is one of my favorite early childhood accomplishments!!! Yay, Mariana!!!

Cuties

Fall is here...and although we have no leaf-shedding trees (just live oaks), our neighbors' trees are so kind as to deposit many of their leaves in our yard. So here are the girls (and a friend) playing in our little leaf pile...

and here is our resident doctor, Mariana. What a cutie pie!

*Barfing*

Kelle linked to this video on her blog...

and it makes me sick too! He is our president now! Yikes!

How can you protect and serve Americans if you are willing to allow mothers to *butcher* their own children...the most innocent and vulnerable of all???!!!

OK, and for all of those people who say PP is not about abortion, they are out to help women, and abortion is just a last option that they want to prevent too...then why is the president-elect (or wanna be at the time) speaking to this group about exactly and only abortion?!

Ok, I am off the soap box now. See ya later!

Happy Baptism Day (late)

to Mariana!!! It was last Thursday... We had a wonderful day celebrating with her...so much so that I forgot to post until now! We had a yummy breakfast of eggs and leftover birthday cake, a lunch date with Daddy, and a picnic and trip to the carnival in the evening!

Disclaimer: the photos are a little blurry because I accidentally had my camera on a weird setting! Oops!

This one almost ruined it. It was the second ride they went on (after the Carousel), and it scared Mariana to death. She was screaming! Allia, however, really enjoyed it and chose to ride it again as her final ride.

SO proud to ride the ferris wheel! She was too small last time we went!

A little milder roller coaster that both girls enjoyed

My personal housekeeper

I came out of the bedroom after nursing Gloria and laying her down for her nap, and the house was spotless! All the toys, shoes, etc. were neatly tucked away. Where was Allia?...out on the back porch picking up things. She spotted me through the window and came in with the sweetest smile explaining how she cleaned the house for me. I was so touched I almost cried! What a sweet girl!!!

She's off!

Gloria is officially walking now! No more holding onto furniture, etc. Look out, world (especially big sisters and their toys!). She even walked across the back porch yesterday and onto the grass. Of course she only made it about 4 steps in the grass before falling!

A generous heart

I was so proud of Allia today...here is our conversation with names changed to allow anonymity!

(On the way home from the grocery store)
...amid a long string of interesting conversation...
Allia: Well, Mommy, if our car breaks, Mr. X can come fix it for us.

Mommy: Sweetie, Mr. X does not fix cars...he fixed our windshield because that is what he used to do, but he has a new job now.

Allia: Why?

Mommy: Well, he and Mrs. X want to have a baby soon, and Mr. X is trying to work hard to find a good job so they can make enough money for Mrs. X to stay home when they have a baby.

Allia: Mommy, we should give them some money...don't you think that is a good idea?

Mommy: (smiling) That is sweet, Allia.

Allia: We do have a lot of money, so we should give them some!

Mommy: What makes you think we have a lot of money?... Well, we do have a lot more than many people in the world.

Allia: I have a lot of dollars in my piggy bank, and I get one every week in my letter from Pawpaw and Manah on Wednesday or Thursday. I can give them all of my dollars from my piggybank. Then they can have a baby! Mommy, I want them to have a baby!

Mommy: Allia, that is so sweet! I think they would like it very much if you would just pray for them, ok?

Allia: Ok, I will and I will give them my dollars!

Conversation today

(rainy day after lunch)

Mommy: After I put this laundry away, we are going to play....hide and seek!

Kiddos: Yay!!!! (running around living room)

Allia: Mommy, can we play base hide and seek where you count on the base and then everyone who hides tries to run and touch it?

Mommy: Well, that is a little dangerous for inside...I don't really like you girls to be running really fast through the house.

Allia: Well, Daddy lets us do it. He likes to play like that because it makes us happy. He likes to make us happy...we have a fun Daddy!

Mommy: You do have a fun Daddy! Some Daddy's just come home and sit around reading newspapers and...

Allia: Yeah, and watching TV. Not our Daddy. He loves us soooo much.

Mommy: Yep, he does!

Allia: Mommy, you picked a good Daddy for us when you got married. If I get married I have to pick a good Daddy too...one that loves me more than our Daddy does.

Mommy: Yes, that is right!
(Austin has been telling her if she is called to marriage some day that she has to find a man who loves her more than him. :-) Early programming!)

The walking/clapping video

Ok, Blogger's video upload does not seem to be working, so I am trying YouTube.

Baby skills

*She learned this week to get from sitting or laying all the way into a standing position and start walking!

*She is walking! She still doesn't walk everywhere, but she can walk between things all over the house and get wherever she wants!

*She is learning to clap and usually likes to do it while standing and balancing...

(I am having trouble uploading the video. I will try it in a separate post)

The turtle is her new favorite toy. Mariana actually gave it to her. Lita bought one for each of the big girls on our cruise, but Gloria really took to it. I am so proud of Mariana for being so generous! Gloria likes to drop the turtle, and so another accomplishment is her new favorite phrase...

*Saying "Uh, Oh turtle"

and some close-ups just for fun.

And in the bathroom this morning, the girls posed and asked me to take a picture. Ok, here it is!

"Spooky"

Mariana received this doll for her birthday from Lala. She immediately named her Spooky and has stuck by that ever since. Allia prefers to rename the doll when it is her turn to play with it. Mariana is so sweet...when she plays with it she says, "I need to go to Lala's house and tell her thank you for my Spooky doll."

A jokester

Allia has been trying for weeks, maybe even months, to make up a joke...but they are always terrible...as in don't make sense and are not even the least bit funny. This time I thought she actually did ok!

Allia: (looking at all the way-too-early Christmas stuff in a store) Mommy, it is not Christmas yet.

Mommy: Nope. We have Thanksgiving this month and then Christmas will be next month.

Allia: (smirking) But watch out for Advent or it might hit you in the head. (then laughing a little)

Mommy: (smiling) Where did that come from?

Allia: It was a joke!

Mommy: Oh...well that one was cute. Good job!

10 Months old today!!!

She is cruising all over the place these days and will walk between objects as long as it is only 3 or 4 steps.

You can see two of her four top teeth in this one!

Deep thoughts from Allia

Discernment

Allia: (after reading a chapter of These Happy Golden Years by L.I.W. together) Maybe I will be a teacher someday and then get married like Laura...if I am not a nun.

Mommy: Yep. It just depends on what God calls you to do.

Allia: (puzzled) Well, I have been trying to listen, but I don't ever hear anything. So then sometimes I just start thinking.

Mommy: (smiling) That is good, sweetheart. That is what he wants you to do. As you get older and think about those things, he will show you what is right for you.

Daily Mass (we haven't been in a while!)

(right as the priest begins the words of consecration)
Allia: (in a loud whisper) Mommy, this is the consecration!!!!

Mommy: (thinking to self ) Wow...she really seems excited!

Allia: (in a loud whisper again) This mass is fast!

Catching up...

We are back!...and here is what we have been up to.

Major teething
She has gotten 6 teeth in the last 3 weeks for a grand total of 8 teeth! This photo is right after they all started popping out.

An All Saints Day Party with some sweet friends
(Gloria was a little freaked out when she woke up from her nap, the house was decorated, and we were all in costumes!)
So our lineup is: Blessed Kateri, a little cherub, and St. Helen of the true cross. Kateri has a stick cross and St. Helen a larger wooden one, but this photo was the best I could do at the time! So, no props to be seen!

Dancing to "When the Saints Go Marching In" and some other P&W favorites

Enjoying a "big girl" moment on the trampoline
