moving funny

Gloria, about 2 hours after our last trip to the old house: I go potty at the other house?

There were lots of others but my foggy head forgot them all! :-(

Update

We survived the move!....barely. How?

1. Grandparents: We COULD NOT have done this without Mom and Dad! Watching kiddos, helping pack, move, care for sick kiddos and now working on the new house. They are awesome. They were probably more exhausted than us (they are 30+ years older after all!) but kept on keeping on until all was done. And in the end, we got the keys to the new house and had to be completely out of the old one just over 24 hours later. Can you say C-R-A-Z-Y?!

2. Jake: My nephew in college who was a medal-winning power lifter in high school. He drove up 2 1/2-3 hours on the promise of gas money, free meals, and a little play time with his adoring nieces. And they do adore him. They are already planning his next visit and calling our extra room "Jake's room." His strength and happy attitude was SOOO helpful!!!

3. Becky and friends: Austin's sister (aerobics instructor, triathalon contender) and her buff boyfriend and roomies. They were a huge help, especially when time was running short and we still had to finish emptying the truck! Having several sets of strong hands around makes the burden much lighter! Whew!

4. God's grace: Really this should have been #1! At times I really didn't think we could do it, especially when I started getting sick too. But His grace is always sufficient and it carried us all through the rough spots.

Now to get this house in some semblance of order. Yikes. One box at a time...at least we now have 900 more square feet in which to put stuff! ;-)

Lent is here!

We are starting off with a bang this year which inlcudes 5 of 6 family members on antibiotics after spending the last week coughing all night and on top of that we are moving tomorrow (which has been its own series of offering up frustrations with the title company, multiple postponments of closing, etc.) And that is not even including the stuff we are choosing to do for lent! This ought to be a good one. Of course our goal is not to see how miserable we can be but to grow closer to Christ. I sure hope when all is said and done that this goal is accomplished!

In honor of Valentine's Day

I love it when...

I hear the door being unlocked and opened as I am getting dinner ready, followed by girly squeals and finally the handsome face of my sweet husband home from work.

I get the girls up in the morning and they all run right past me to find baby Stephen and tell him good morning.

I leave a fussy baby in the bouncy seat to go put the older girls down for nap and come back to find that Allia has covered him in blankets, given him the paci, and loved on him until he fell asleep. I have started calling her the "Baby Whisperer."

Mariana is excited about something and I see her beautiful blue eyes twinkling up at me as she tells me about it.

Gloria asks for a roll at dinner and we can't understand her because it sounds like "woe." She speaks like such a big girl, but still can't say "r" and "l." I love that she still has some baby talk left.

We are out somewhere and see a police officer or fireman, and my husband thanks them for their service. I always want to do that but am too timid. I love that he is outgoing enough to do things like that.

I look down and see the sweet sleeping face of a baby on my chest...and that satisfied, closed-eye, full belly stretch he does after a good nursing. My brother-in-law James calls it the "Pig in the Sunshine" look. I love it.

I crawl into my warm cozy bed at night and get to sleep next to the husband of my dreams and father of the four little people I cherish most.

And the pink heart cake the girls and I made

"Love is patient, love is kind.
It is not jealous, it is not pompous,
it is not inflated, it is not rude,
it does not seek its own interests,
it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury,
it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails.

So faith, hope, love remain, these three;
but the greatest of these is love." from 1 Cor 13

Lord, help me to love better!

Karaoke?

We needed a little change of pace after a tough week (baby not sleeping and lots of other busyness going on), and Austin decided to try out some Karaoke Cd's last night with the girls. So Stephen had his first Karaoke experience with Daddy. Be warned, little guy, that Karaoke runs deep in those genes! ;-)
