A hiatus

I will be taking a break from blogging (and reading blogs) for the next 9 days as we make extra prayers and sacrifices approaching the election. So, see you all soon, and may God be with us!

One more thing...

If the video and article below have you in tears (as it did to me!) then here is a little pick-me-up from Palin's appearance on SNL! Too funny!

Opening skit

"weekend update"

There is one more skit, but I can't find it. Oh, well!

Voting

Ok...I try not to use this blog for anything but a place to share what is going on with our family. BUT...I have to put some links on here that show why, although there are a lot of things I may not like about McCain (but Palin is awsome!) and maybe some more likable things about Obama (or at least some of his policies!), I absolutely cannot vote for Obama and must instead vote for McCain. Obama is blatantly linked with Planned Parenthood and the culture of death they promote, so much so that our country and the children conceived in it, especially the disabled and "unwanted" are in great danger if he gets into office.

Ok. Enough said. Now back to family life...

Doctor appointment...

a little late. We had Gloria's 9 month appointment Friday. She weighed 17lb 9oz (25-50 percentile) and was 28 3/4" tall (90th percentile!). She dropped a little in weight, but the doctor said it is probably all that walking around! She is looking a little more petite than her sisters at this age although still pretty tall like them.

Side note: She is also doing better with the shots (afterward...she still cries when she gets them of course!). I am only getting two at a time to ease the burden on her system, and there are still some I will reject. We will also put off the MMR until later since they usually do it at 12 months.

Baby monster

Gloria has been growling at us...mostly at the girls for some reason. It is really cute and funny.
We call her the "baby monster"...

Walking, walking....

She is getting close!

Getting closer....

She took 5 steps on her own this morning! Go Gloria!

Rainy day reading

All Done

or more accurately, "Ahhhh Duh."

This is by far Gloria's most frequent word/phrase. She throws her little hands up above her head like a football ref calling a field goal. It sure is cute. Although if she is being fed something that is not on her favorites list, she does this after a few bites, and I have to remind her that she is not, in fact, "Ahh duh" yet.

Baby steps

Gloria took her first real steps today!!! She let go of my hand, balanced for a few seconds, and took one or two steps before squatting down to a sitting position. She did this several times and was very excited. Help...I don't think I am ready for this!!!

Playing Doctor

Me: Ohhhhh *moan* I feel so siiiick.

Dr. Allia: Ok, let me check and see what is wrong. (takes temp. and blood pressure) Yes, everything is very high.

Me: Oh, no. Am I sick?

Dr. Allia: Yes....hmmm....I think that I will have to open up your leg and look inside. I think that you have some pieces of glass in it, and that is making you sick. I will have to take them out and throw them in the trash.

Me: Oh, wow!

Dr. Allia: (Cuts my legs open (without anesthesia!), removes glass, throws it in the trash, sews my leg back up.) Ok, here is your medicine. You are better so you can go home.

Me: I am ready to go home already?

Dr. Allia: Yep!

Me: Um, thanks, Doctor!

A surprise tooth!

Gloria's 3rd tooth is poking through on the top! I couldn't even see it under the gums. I was watching her next two bottom teeth thinking they would be next because I could see them right under the gums. But she surprised me!

Children's Barnyard

We went to the Children's Barnyard at A&M today with our homeschooling group and, coincidentally, our girls' play group at the same time! The girls loved seeing the animals and getting to touch them. Mariana's favorites were the pigs, but I missed photos of those due to a nursing baby. They actually escaped from their little pen, which was exciting for everyone! The girls had a lot of fun seeing their friends and enjoyed a surprise ice cream treat at the end.

On the way home, we were making some of the animal noises, and Gloria imitated the sheep noise perfectly. It was so funny!

9 months old today!

Yay, Gloria! I have yet to take a picture of her...crazy morning, including her first reaction to a food. :-( Hopefully things will settle down, and I can post a photo of our big girl later!

Updated

Here is our sweet girl! She has had a rough day. She woke up in egg yolk vomit...poor thing! It was her 4th time to have it, and I guess it just took that long for her body to reject it. No more of that for her! She has had 2 baths and still smells funny. She has also had quite a few falls today since she is now cruising along furniture and other stuff. Occasionally she will forget that she needs to hold on and just walk off! She sure is a cute, sweet girl though. We all really enjoy her!

We love you, Gloria!

Big girl beds

Mariana graduated to her big bed on her birthday (as is our family custom...they make the move at 3yo). It took a few days, but she loves it now, and Allia is enjoying her new lookout too!

Of course this is their placement of choice!

Fall is here

and so we bring out the scarecrows...with a new one for Gloria!
