Escape Hen

Our neighbors had a hen that repeatedly escaped to our yard (I guess she wanted some company. They had a new baby and may have been a little preoccupied!). They finally figured out where she was getting out, but we had to return her several times before that.

Cousin visit

Lito brought the cousins to spend the day with us. They had lots of fun building things, playing baseball, and swimming at the city pool during the heat of the afternoon.

Porch buddy

This little cutie likes to sit with Austin and I when we have "porch coffee" in the mornings. She was good company when he had jury duty for a week and had to leave early in the morning!

And just for fun, my goofy teenage boy...

Happy Father's Day/Lake Vacation!

We decided to tie in our family vacation to Father's Day again this year since it worked out so well last year. It helps that Austin has June 19 off! After a nice dinner with Pawpaw the night before, we headed to our cabin at Canyon Lake Sunday morning. After a bit of a fiasco trying to eat on the way, we finally ended up at P.F. Chang's (one of Austin's favorites) in New Braunfels for a nice Father's Day lunch. It was delicious and enjoyed by all!

We arrived at the house in the late afternoon. It was wonderful...part of a private ranch/retreat center at the top of several hills. We quickly got settled and went for a swim before dinner. We were visited by the resident wildlife and had lots of fun swimming/doing stunts and wrangler moves in the pool!

After dinner, we hiked/explored more of the property. There was this cool lookout point with a statue of Jesus.
The next day we went to the lake and rented kayaks. The older kids took off on their own, and Austin and I stayed back with the youngest two to swim and fish. Then they both had a turn in the kayak when Allia returned with hers.
We enjoyed watching the Aggies play in the World Series too!
The following day, we rented Jet Skis, which proved to be a family favorite. None of us had ever ridden, and much fun was had (though for some of us it was a combination of fun and fear)!

Our last day was rainy, so we went out for lunch and hit the outlet malls. The younger kids did some swimming too. We had a few coming down with an illness, so it was a welcome day of down time before we left the next morning.

Goodbye, Canyon Lake. We hope to be back someday!

Field trip and cousin visit

We went on a field trip to Blue Bell Friday with our homeschool gang and were able to bring Lairen and Ryder along with us. We went to the splash pad and had a picnic lunch first. It was so much fun!

Then of course lots of fun with the cousins back at Pawpaw and Manah's house...

Ada loves playing tea party!

4-H Leadership lab

Gloria and a friend attended a 3 day 4-H Leadership camp together and had a good time!

This guy had his own camp this week. He came home sweaty but happy every day. He really loves baseball!
