She spends a lot of time in her carseat between running errands and because she has constant congestion (weird newborn thing since she was 1 week old...not a cold) and can't sleep well laying down.

If the car seat stops working or whatever, you can try a Moses basket which can be easily propped up and they can't get turned around in it. Drew's been propped up in his for the last couple of weeks since he got a cough/cold. It helped a lot with his sleeping. Also, a friend of mine has the same thing with her son (constant congestion) and she uses a SnuggleU so she can keep him propped up in his crib and he won't get turned around.
